During the Cycle of Building Performance Optimisation, simple but effective fine tuning can include:

  • Optimised start-up when a weekly schedule has been set. The function starts the air conditioning units 5 - 60 minutes prior to reach the set temperature at the scheduled time. This function is achieved by monitoring set-point, room temperature, time and the history of previous start-ups.

  • Temperature Setback is another function that allows us to prevent the building from overheating or overcooling after-hours. When the temperature goes above or below a certain value the air conditioners will run to maintain the pre-set value. This function is effective for energy savings as it reduces the load within the building during the scheduled start-up.

  • Sliding Temperature interlock function monitors the outside temperature and slides the temperature of the area being conditioned accordingly. The purpose behind this function is to prevent a person from getting temperature shock when entering a building. Also this process is very effective in saving energy.

  • Interlock Control function allows us to interlock auxiliary mechanical equipment to the relevant air conditioning units to reduce run time which in turn saves energy.

  • Auto Off Timer for after-hours usage prevents the HVAC equipment from running when the conditioned space is vacant.

  • Motion Detection within the air conditioned space allows the HVAC equipment to either turn off, change setpoint accordingly, stop refrigerant flow or change to fan mode automatically when motion is not detected within in a room.

  • Light Sensor function will automatically turn the air conditioning units off when an occupant turns the lights off when they leave the building.

  • Peak-cut Demand Control allows us to reduce the energy consumption during peak operating hours. See example below:
